RETAILING TIPS
Sell more potatoes with POS displays.
Move more product by placing bright, bold Larsen Farms bins in high-traffic areas.
Promote their nutritional value.
Make sure your customers know that potatoes are fat-free and cholesterol-free, high in vitamin C and potassium, and a great source of fiber. Plus they have only 100 calories per 5-ounce potato!
Promote by size.
Take your three leading potato sizes and promote them on a rotating basis. Also, promote any size with weak volume. You might be surprised to find new customers you didn't know existed!
Promote, Promote, Promote!
The more you advertise Idaho or Colorado-Nebraska Russets, the more excitement and revenue you generate at store level. Any dollars of lost margins will be more-than compensated by increased potato volume and other produce-department sales.
POP Signs
Make sure your POP signs display accurate potato variety and price information, and are cleary visible.
Display Recipes
Keep recipes on your display to help encourage impulse purchases.
Also, be sure to use end cap and entrance displays--your customers don't like searching for bargains.

POTATO CARE AND HANDLING
Prevent greening by regulating lights.
Keep potatoes from turning green by avoiding direct lighting on the potatoes-both in the back room and the display floor. Dim overhead lights whenever possible and cover the potatoes with a produce cloth when the store is closed.
Don't overbuy.
It's always better to run low and keep inventories low and on quick turn.
Rotate, rotate, rotate.
Don't forget to rotate. Freshly rotated potatoes mean fresh-looking potatoes and sales-boosting displays.
